Erik Bombard

HeadShot-ErikBombardErik Bombard has worked for Catalina Express, the largest high-speed ferry service from Southern California to the idyllic vacation destination of Catalina Island, since 2002. His father, Greg Bombard, is co-founder of the company which was established in 1981 with one vessel operating from San Pedro, California to the small hunting village of Two Harbors on Catalina Island. Today, the Catalina Express fleet has grown to 8 vessels that carry over 1 million passengers to both Avalon and Two Harbors on Catalina Island from three southern California ports – San Pedro, Long Beach and Dana Point.

Erik Bombard has worked in just about every department throughout the company having started in the mail room and working his way up to Captain until ultimately being
promoted to Vice President of Operations. Bombard currently holds a United Stated Coast Guard 100-ton Master’s License, which he received in 2007, a Radar Endorsement, and an FCC Radio license. Bombard’s current position as Vice President of Operations allows him to oversee the vessel, ticketing, and call center operations, as well as customer service. Bombard has also functioned as the Facility Security Officer for Catalina Express since 2015.

Erik Bombard has been a vessel member of the Passenger Vessel Association since 2012. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Passenger Vessel Association, the Passenger Vessel Foundation, as well as serving on the PVA Safety and Security Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Marine Exchange of Southern California and since 2019 has served on both the Central California Area of Maritime Security Committee and the Harbor Safety Committee Los Angeles-Long Beach. Bombard has also been a member of Interferry since 2015.
